Munshiganj Patkhir

মুন্সীগঞ্জের পাতক্ষীর

Thick reduced-milk khir set in leaf-lined pots, a Bikrampur sweet with GI status.

Patkhir is milk boiled down slowly until it turns into a dense, mildly sweet khir, traditionally set in shallow pots lined with leaves. Sirajdikhan upazila is the best-known home of it, and Munshiganj's patkhir received Geographical Indication status in 2025. In winter it is the classic filling for patishapta pitha; in summer people eat it with ripe mango, milk and muri. Some locals like it plain in the morning with strong red tea.
