Idrakpur Fort
ইদ্রাকপুর দুর্গ
A compact Mughal river fort in Munshiganj town with a tall round drum tower for cannon.
Idrakpur Fort was built around 1660 under Mir Jumla, the Mughal governor of Bengal, to guard the rivers against pirate raids. Its most memorable feature is a high circular platform where cannon once stood, linked to the main enclosure by a ramp. The walls are crenellated and the brickwork has been restored. It takes less than an hour to explore and is right in town.
How to get there
Bus or launch from Dhaka to Munshiganj town, then a rickshaw to the fort.
Good to know
Combine with a launch trip on the Dhaleshwari for a full day out.
