Magura is a quiet river district between the Nabaganga, Garai and Madhumati. Its main draw is Mohammadpur, the 17th–18th century capital of the rebel Raja Sitaram Ray, where temples, tanks and palace ruins remain among villages. It is also the birthplace of poet Farrukh Ahmad.
