Mohamaya Lake in Durgapur union of Mirsharai was created around 2009–2010 by damming the Mohamaya stream for irrigation. It is often called the country's second largest man-made lake after Kaptai, and it winds for kilometres between forested hills. Visitors hire boats or kayaks to paddle up the narrow arms of the lake, and a small waterfall feeds it at the far end. It makes an easy day trip from Chattogram, often combined with the Mirsharai waterfalls.

How to get there

Take a Dhaka-bound bus from Chattogram (Oxygen or AK Khan) and get off at Thakurdighi, Mirsharai; a CNG or rickshaw takes you to the lake gate.

Good to know

Wear a life jacket on kayaks. Weekdays are far less crowded.
