Karpashdanga on the Bhairab river in Damurhuda was a busy trading place from Mughal to British times. The ruined Nilkuthi on the riverbank once served the indigo trade; part of it is now a school. Kazi Nazrul Islam stayed in the village for a time, and a small Nazrul memorial room keeps items linked to his visit. The village is also home to a long-established Christian community and church.
How to get there
From Chuadanga, go by bus or auto to Damurhuda and on to Karpashdanga.
Good to know
Ask at the local high school about seeing the Nazrul memorabilia.
