Darshana

Darshana sits beside the Indian border on the old Kolkata rail line. Its sugar mill and distillery are run by Carew & Co, a company dating back to the colonial era and one of the oldest industrial names in the country. In the crushing season, trucks and bullock carts of sugarcane queue at the gates. The station and border crossing add to the town's busy, frontier feel.

Train or bus from Chuadanga town (about 30–40 min).

Industrial areas need permission to enter; view from outside unless you have arranged a visit.
