Jagaddala was a Buddhist monastery thought to have been founded under King Ramapala in the late 11th century, and it was known as a centre of scholarship. The excavated site in Dhamoirhat upazila shows brick walls, cells and structural remains in a quiet rural setting near the border. It sees only a fraction of Paharpur's visitors. For those interested in Bengal's Buddhist past it completes the story.
