Dinajpur Museum

দিনাজপুর জাদুঘর

A rich small-town museum of sculpture, coins and inscriptions gathered from across North Bengal.

Dinajpur Museum

Dinajpur Museum, in the Munshipara area of the town, was founded in 1968 by A.K.M. Zakaria, the official who also uncovered Sitakot Vihara. He travelled the villages of greater Dinajpur, Rangpur and Bogura collecting stone and bronze images, coins and inscriptions, and local people donated more. Its collection of antiquities is counted among the largest in the country outside Dhaka. It is a good stop before or after visiting Kantajew Temple and the region's ruins, which many of its objects came from.

How to get there

In Dinajpur town, take a rickshaw to Munshipara.
