Cox's Bazar has an old Rakhine community, and a few family-run eateries cook their food: mundi rice-noodle soup, binni (sticky) rice, hill-style chicken curry and salads of squid or snail. Mundi is best on a winter evening. The Burmese Market in Tekpara, begun in 1962, is the place to buy tangy Myanmar-style pickles to take home.
