Cox's Bazar Sea Beach

কক্সবাজার সমুদ্র সৈকত

Over a hundred kilometres of gently sloping sand, where the whole country comes to watch the sun sink into the sea.

The beach runs almost unbroken from the town southward toward Teknaf. Near town, the main access points such as Laboni, Sugandha and Kolatoli are busy with beach chairs, horse rides, photographers and snack sellers. The sand slopes so gently that waves roll in long and shallow, and sunset over the bay is a daily ritual for visitors. Walk a little away from the main points and it quickly becomes calmer.

How to get there

Fly or take a bus to Cox's Bazar town; a direct train from Dhaka via Chattogram also runs. The beach points are a short rickshaw or easy-bike ride from any hotel.

Good to know

Swim only in flagged areas and when lifeguards are on duty; rip currents are a real danger. Avoid the water when red flags are up.
