Nawab Palace (Mohammad Ali Palace Museum)

নবাববাড়ি (মোহাম্মদ আলী প্যালেস জাদুঘর)

The old Nawab family house on the Karatoya, now a museum with life-size scenes of palace life and a small park.

The Nawab Palace stands on the west bank of the Karatoya in the middle of Bogura town. It belonged to the Nawab family of Bogura, whose best-known member, Mohammad Ali Bogra, became Prime Minister of Pakistan. Since 1998 the two-storey house has been a museum: artist Aminul Karim Dulal filled its rooms with sculptures showing the household at work and leisure, from the billiard room to a music gathering. Outside is a small amusement park with rides for children. The Department of Archaeology declared the palace a protected antiquity in 2016.

How to get there

It is on Nawab Bari Road near Satmatha in the town centre; walk or take a rickshaw.
