Sholakia Eid Congregation

Sholakia Eidgah, on the edge of Kishoreganj town, hosts the biggest Eid prayer congregation in Bangladesh, with hundreds of thousands of worshippers on Eid ul-Fitr. People travel from across the country, and special trains run from Dhaka. The prayer begins with the firing of a gun as a signal, an old local custom. Even watching from the edge, the sea of people is a remarkable sight.

Arrive very early, expect heavy security and crowds, and dress for prayer if attending.
