Sixty Dome Mosque

Built under Khan Jahan Ali in the mid-1400s, the Shat Gambuj Masjid is one of the largest historic mosques in Bangladesh. Despite the name it has 77 small domes over its prayer hall, plus four corner towers, carried on rows of slender stone pillars. The terracotta-decorated brick walls stay cool even in summer. A small site museum nearby explains the wider mosque city.

How to get there

Buses from Khulna reach Bagerhat in about an hour; the mosque is beside the Khulna–Bagerhat road west of town.

Good to know

It is an active mosque: dress modestly, remove shoes, and avoid prayer times. Combine with Khan Jahan Ali's tomb the same day.
