Sherpur Dailer Amitti

Dailer amitti is made from mashkalai (black gram) soaked and ground on a stone, mixed with atap rice flour, piped into coils, fried hot and dropped into sugar syrup. It looks like jalebi but is denser and chewier. Sherpur's sweet makers traditionally make it in autumn, and in Ramadan queues form for it at iftar time.
