Sadarghat and the Buriganga

Sadarghat is the main river terminal of Dhaka, with large launches leaving each evening for Barishal, Bhola and other southern towns. Small wooden nouka shuttle passengers across the Buriganga all day, and hiring one for half an hour is the best way to watch the city's working river life. You will see dockyards, cargo boats and the facade of Ahsan Manzil from the water. It is crowded and noisy, which is exactly the point.

How to get there

Rickshaw or CNG to Sadarghat in Old Dhaka.

Good to know

Agree the boat fare before boarding, keep valuables close, and go early morning or late afternoon.
