Around mid-April, Rakhine communities in Taltoli and the wider coast celebrate their New Year with Sangrai. Young men and women throw water at each other from decorated pandals, a ritual of washing away the past year's misfortune. Temples hold prayers, and homes prepare special food. Visitors are welcome to watch respectfully.
