Panthumai Waterfall
পান্থুমাই ঝর্ণা
A broad curtain of water falling from the Meghalaya hills just across the border, seen from a quiet village.
See the place on video
Panthumai is a village in Gowainghat at the foot of the hills, facing a wide waterfall that tumbles down on the Indian side of the border. You watch it from the Bangladeshi bank of the Piyain stream, with paddy fields and village life all around. Fewer tourists come here than to Bichanakandi, and the scene is especially full in the rainy season.
How to get there
From Sylhet go to Gowainghat, then by boat or local transport to Panthumai; often combined with Bichanakandi by boat.
Good to know
Do not cross the border. Roads can be muddy in monsoon.
