Char Buffalo Curd

চরের মহিষের দই

Sour, creamy buffalo-milk curd from the coastal islands, set in rough clay pots.

Herds of buffalo graze on the chars of Hatiya and Subarnachar, and their thick milk is turned into curd set overnight in clay pots. It is pleasantly sour and very rich, eaten at the end of a meal, with flattened rice and molasses, or simply with a spoon. In Noakhali it is an essential part of wedding and festival feasts.
