Naodanga, in Phulbari upazila, was the seat of the Bakshi zamindars, founded by Pramod Ranjan Bakshi, who received the title Bahadur from the British. Their estate covered much of present Phulbari. The rest of the family moved to Cooch Behar, and the last zamindar, Bisheshwar Prasad Bakshi, followed after zamindari was abolished. What remains of the house now stands among trees, and a goddess temple on the grounds is still in use. Few visitors come.
How to get there
From Kurigram cross the Dharla Bridge to Phulbari by bus or CNG, then an auto to Naodanga union.
Good to know
Ask locals for the 'jomidar bari'. Go in daylight; the grounds are overgrown.
