Dharla Bridge and Riverfront

ধরলা সেতু ও নদীর পাড়

A wide sweep of the Dharla beside Kurigram town, best at sunset from the bridge approaches.

The Dharla flows past Kurigram town, and the bridge across it has become the town's favourite spot to watch the river. In winter the water runs clear and shallow, with sandbanks and grazing cattle, while in the monsoon it swells fast and brown. Fishermen cast nets from small boats, and tea stalls line the embankment. It is a relaxed place to see daily river life.

How to get there

A short auto-rickshaw ride from Kurigram town centre.

Good to know

Late afternoon is best. Avoid boat trips when the river is in flood.
