Muktagacha Monda
মুক্তাগাছার মণ্ডা
A flat, grainy milk sweet made in the same shop since 1824, Mymensingh's most famous taste.
Monda is a soft, slightly grainy disc of chhana and sugar, less syrupy than most Bengali sweets. The shop founded by Gopal Pal in Muktagacha in 1824 still makes it, and his descendants keep the recipe a family secret. Local stories say it was served to zamindars and visiting dignitaries. Eat one at the shop and take a box home.
