Madaripur Museum was opened by the district administration in March 2023 in the old treasury building beside Shakuni Lake. The building itself is part of the story: in March 1971 the sub-divisional officer handed weapons from this treasury to local freedom fighters. The galleries cover the district's history, from the anti-British movements and the Language Movement to the Liberation War. It is a small museum and fits easily into an evening walk around the lake.
