Boga Lake

বগা লেক

A deep, still lake high in the hills near Ruma, surrounded by forest and a small Bawm village.

Boga Lake lies at around 1,200 feet in Ruma upazila, and its unusual shape and depth have led to theories that it formed in an old crater. Bawm legend tells of a dragon living in a cave on the site. The water is clear and calm, and the small Bawm village on its shore offers simple homestays. It is also the base for treks to Keokradong.

How to get there

Jeep from Bandarban town to Ruma bazar, register with authorities and hire a licensed guide, then continue by jeep or on foot to the lake.

Good to know

A registered local guide and checkpoint registration are mandatory. Tourist access to Ruma has been suspended at times for security reasons, most recently in 2024; check current district administration and army notices before going. Swimming in the lake is discouraged because it is very deep.
