A riverbank beach in Ramgati where the Meghna stretches so wide it looks like the sea.
Near Alexander, the Ramgati upazila headquarters, the embankment along the Meghna has become a popular riverside beach. The river here is enormous, with boats and fishing nets dotting the water and the far bank barely visible. In the evenings families gather for snacks and the sunset over the water.
How to get there
About 1.5 hours by bus or CNG south from Lakshmipur town to Alexander, Ramgati.
Good to know
Keep children well back from the bank; the river is strong and banks can erode. Avoid swimming.
