Uttara Gonobhaban (Dighapatia Palace)

উত্তরা গণভবন

A graceful palace and garden, once the Dighapatia Raja's home and now an official residence in the north.

Uttara Gonobhaban (Dighapatia Palace)

Built by the Dighapatia rajas in the 18th century and rebuilt after the 1897 earthquake, the palace stands inside a moated compound with a clock-tower gate. Lawns and old trees surround the main building, including rare imported plants and statues in the gardens. It became the official northern residence of the head of government after independence, which is why it is called Uttara Gonobhaban. Visitors can walk the grounds and see the museum when open.
