The ruins lie about 15 km north of Magura town, a kilometre north of Sreepur upazila headquarters beside the boundary wall of Sreepur Mohila College. Local tradition says Sarada Ranjan Pal Chowdhury bought the estate from Nawab Alivardi Khan, and that his daughter married Udayaditya, son of Raja Pratapaditya of Jessore. People here believe Tagore drew on that story for Bou Thakuranir Haat. What survives is mainly the big arched gateway with guard rooms and a few walls; the government has never taken it over, and it is badly neglected.

How to get there

Take a bus or CNG from Magura town to Sreepur (about 15 km), then walk or take a rickshaw towards Sreepur Mohila College.

Good to know

The structure is unstable; look from outside and don't climb on it. Ask locals for the 'jomidar bari' near the women's college.
