Mirzapur Shahi Mosque
মির্জাপুর শাহী মসজিদ
A three-domed Mughal mosque in Atwari, its front wall covered in old carved and painted decoration.
Mirzapur Shahi Mosque stands in Mirzapur village of Atwari upazila. A Persian inscription suggests it dates from the Mughal period, probably around 1656 during Shah Shuja's rule in Bengal, though local accounts differ on who built it. The building is about 40 feet long and 25 feet wide, with three domes in a row and corner minarets. Its front wall is the highlight, decorated with varied carving and painted motifs. It is a protected monument and still an active mosque.
How to get there
From Panchagarh town take a bus or CNG to Atwari, then an auto to Mirzapur; the Atwari Imambara is in the same union.
Good to know
Dress modestly and avoid prayer times. Morning light is best for the facade.
