The Lakutia zamindar family was founded by Rupchandra Roy, and his grandson Rajchandra Roy built the main house on a large estate in Lakutia village. The family is also remembered in Barishal for building the road to the city and founding Rajchandra College. The surviving mansion has two storeys and nine rooms, surrounded by three paved ponds known as Babur Pukur. Part of the land is now used by the agricultural development corporation (BADC). In 2025 the Department of Archaeology began restoring the building, so expect scaffolding while work goes on.

How to get there

From Barishal city take an auto or rickshaw along Lakutia Road (about 30 min). Durgasagar Dighi is a short ride away.

Good to know

Combine with Durgasagar on the same half-day. Ask before entering any part under restoration.
